Andrew Ti Talks About '2 Broke Girls' for Grantland

So the Emasculated Asian Immigrant Han Lee is taken care of - I can’t even get started on the Cackling Old Black Guy, Earl (who manages to embody the, oh look at that, emasculation of all black men ever in about seven words).

Do I remember correctly that the creators of this show were all smug and proud of themselves for making a feminist show, because it was penned and produced by a woman and stars two women? Even that position looks a little weak. How does it make sense to try to build up the feminist agenda by cutting down all men?

Of course just because a show is created by women or “for women” or whatever doesn’t mean it’s going to be good LET ALONE have anything good to say “for women” or on behalf of them. Honestly this is just downright embarrassing. We can do better than this. This is cheap shots.

And it’s not that I’m one of those people who looks at shows created by women and says “oh this is going to be indicative of the whole gender and exemplary of women’s struggles in Hollywood and should be held up to this impossible high standard of speaking for THE ENTIRE GENDER.” Far from it. But it seems like they tried to tout it as oh-so-forward-thinking and THAT is what gets my goat.

All told I see nothing to prove so far that this isn’t offensive and insulting to anybody, regardless of race or gender, with a modicum of taste.
